Her story

Angelica is a Senior Counsel Assisting at Coroners Court Queensland.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

I review evidence and provide advice to the Coroner on non-natural deaths to consider if an Inquest should be held, or if there are systemic issues to consider avoiding similar deaths in the future.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Inclusion, flexibility and possibilities.

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

I think a complete mind-shift is necessary to genuinely bring about change to ensure inclusion in the legal industry.  A level of open mindedness to think outside of the square and be willing to challenge the status quo to bring about change.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

As cliche as it sounds to make a difference and be able to assist those who struggle to have a voice.  This is why the role of Senior Counsel Assisting is such a great challenge and fit for me.
