Her story

Chloe is a specialist personal injury lawyer at Shine Lawyers. With experience in workers compensation, motor vehicle accident and public liability claims, Chloe has spent recent years helping people impacted by medical negligence.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

Sometimes, doctors and hospitals make mistakes. When they make mistakes they shouldn’t have, sometimes people are injured. My job is to assist those injured people to access compensation from insurers to pay for their medical treatment, loss of wages and care they require.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Perspective, inclusion, creativity!

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

We will not develop truly diverse thinking until we have true diversity in all facets of the industry: the bench, the bar, firms, leadership positions, support staff, universities, and government and policy makers! From that point, it will take time to see the impacts and reap the benefits of the positive changes that come from truly diverse thinking.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

Human connection and a passion for helping people! I am a people person, which I like to think is why I landed in a people facing role. I love problem solving and helping people navigate a complex legal system.
