Barrister
Victorian Bar
Gabi is a Barrister at the Victorian Bar.
I act for litigants in civil court proceedings by representing them and advocating on their behalf.
What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?
Nuance, challenge and innovation.
What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?
Mentoring students from different cultural, socio-economic and geographic backgrounds is critical. It empowers young people by giving them the confidence, the networks and the support to forge careers in the law. Never underestimate your capacity to light a spark in someone else, and then to help nurture that spark to turn into a flame.
What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?
I was attracted to the concept of advocacy as a profession, and to the intellectual rigour of problem solving within a framework.
