Her story

Jodie is a Special Counsel in McCullough Robertson’s Tax team. Specialising in transaction structuring and restructuring, Jodie has over 19 years working as a tax law specialist. Her core practice areas focus on providing advice on taxation matters including duty, GST, capital gains tax and advising clients on cost-effective business structures and restructures.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

I work with accountants and businesses of all sizes to provide practical, results-driven advice on complex tax and duty issues. I have three children and love all things camping.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Inclusion, race, gender.

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

Leading from the top and by example. Leaders need to demonstrate diverse thinking through their actions, not just in policies. Flexible working is one of the keys to not only retaining women in the legal industry long term, but to the mental health of all people. The legal industry is full of bright minds and we should be leading the way in truly diverse thinking.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

Initially, it was the challenge of completing a law degree. Overtime, I developed a love of working with business and professionals to see businesses grow to their fullest potential.
