Her story

Katie is a Managing Director at Virtual Legal.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

I use my software platform Law On Earth and my online law firm Virtual Legal to ensure every Australian has the ability to access legal help no matter what their background, where they live or what they earn.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Togetherness, Appreciation, Future

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

I think it’s already happening and it will take the community to support those putting forward the diverse concepts, so the rest of the profession are compelled to change if they aren’t yet onboard.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

I wanted to be a doctor but I knew I could have a far greater impact if I tackled the legal industry. I grew up in a tiny town with minimal resources so I was determined to find a way to make sure every person had the same rights to help like we do with medical care.

Contribute to the rich tapestry of women in Australian law

This campaign is not just a reflection of the past; it's an invitation to join the celebration of women in law. We invite you to nominate other women within the legal industry to share their stories, anecdotes, and tributes. Together, let's honour their legacy and inspire future generations.
