Laryssa is a Senior Associate at McCullough Robertson Lawyers.
A professional problem solver and trusted adviser for clients at all stages of the business cycle; from local start-ups to companies listed on securities exchanges around the world, with a focus on all things capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. With a strong personal philosophy of service, I also lead our community partnerships program to provide opportunities for colleagues to create positive social change through the giving of talent, time, and resources.
What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?
Inclusion, community, and uniqueness.
What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?
A willingness at an individual level to engage with different perspectives to better understand the views, needs, and challenges of others, to pause and question our own thinking to increase our awareness of our own biases and assumptions, and to create an environment in which those we interact with feel acknowledged, respected and valued.
What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?
In the final year of my undergraduate studies of commerce and law, I was fortunate to have been selected as one of four students to represent my university in an international mooting competition. The intellectual challenge and camaraderie of that experience (and my love for all things Legally Blonde) opened my eyes to a career in law. Given my background, I knew that if I pursued the law path I wanted to specialise in corporate and commercial law. And the rest is history…
